Private wells
If you have your own private well you are responsible for the maintenance and water quality of the well. The National Board of Health and Welfare (Socialstyrelsen) provides information about the rules and regulations.

WATER TESTS
Would you like to test the quality of your drinking water? In that case, who you should contact for performing the tests depends on where you live. VA SYD does not perform tests on the water in private wells.
- Residents in the municipality of Malmö: Private analysis laboratories perform tests on the water in private wells. Look under "analyses" (analyser) in the Yellow Pages.
- Residents in the municipality of Lund: Lund’s Environmental Administration (Miljöförvaltningen) offers to test the water in private wells.

DRIED-UP WELL
Has your private well run dry? During a hot summer with long periods of drought, the groundwater level could decrease so much that your well dries up.
Unfortunately VA SYD is not able to assist in filling your well. This is because we have to be prepared to assist the municipal distribution network in case of leakage. In some parts of the country private firms can assist you in delivering drinking water. You will find them in the Yellow Pages.
If your property is close to our distribution network, we can check if it is possible to connect you to the municipal drinking water network. For temporary tappings hydrant equipment can be rented. Contact us for more information!
