Drinking water in the Municipality of Lund
As of 1 September 2009 the municipality of Lund receives 50 per cent of its drinking water from Vombsjön and 50 per cent from Ringsjön. This is because the tunnel from Lake Bolmen, which normally supplies Lund with drinking water, is under repair.
The renovation of the Bolmen tunnel is scheduled to be completed in the spring of 2010, and water supply from Lake Bolmen is planned to start up in May, 2010.
Normally the municipal water supply in Lund comes from Lake Bolmen and Vombsjön. It is purchased from Sydvatten. Sydvatten is a company jointly owned by a number of municipals in western Skåne. Revingeby and Skatteberg have their own water treatment works which supply these villages with groundwater.
The drinking water is distributed to the consumers in the densely populated areas through a distribution network of more than 500 kilometres.
