As a subscriber, or customer to VA SYD, you pay a fee for water and sewage handling. The fee is based on a rate which is specific for each municipality.
WHO DETERMINES THE FEES?
VA SYD has the entire responsibility for all matters concerning water and sewage in the member municipalities. This means that VA SYD has taken over the tasks which used to fall on different political authorities in each of the municipalities.
Now the water and sewage rates in the member municipalities are determined by the Representative Assembly of the joint authority, based on suggestions from each Ownership Committee and drafting procedure in the Authority Board.
WHY DO THE RATES DIFFER BETWEEN THE MUNICIPALITIES?
The water and sewage operations at VA SYD are financed through fees from the subscribers in our member municipalities. Each municipality is a separate operational area, where the water and sewage rates are determined separately. The water and sewage rates vary because of different conditions in our member municipalities. This was one of the important principles when the joint authority was formed.
WHAT ARE THE FEES USED FOR?
The water and sewage fees consist of installation fees and user fees. The installation fees cover the costs for connecting new subscribers. The user fees cover the costs for operating the public water and sewage system, as well as capital costs for investments in the distribution network, water treatment plants and other facilities.
