Hazardous waste
Deposit your hazardous waste at an Environment Station! If it ends up in the wrong place it will harm the environment.
WHAT IS HAZARDOUS WASTE?
Hazardous waste are substances listed in the Waste Regulation (Avfallsförordningen) SFS 2001:1063 which has one or more of the following properties:
- Explosive
- Oxidizing
- Flammable
- Irritant
- Harmful
- Toxic
- Carcinogenic
- Corrosive
- Infectious
- Toxic for reproduction
- Mutagenic
- Ecotoxic
Examples of hazardous waste:
- Paint, glue and lacquer residue
- Low-energy light bulbs
- Solvents, for example paint thinner, acetone, turpentine and petrol
- Detergents, for example deliming agents and silver polisher
- Pesticides
- Aerosol cans with some content left, or empty aerosol cans for pesticides
- Batteries
- Used oil
- Other chemicals
WHERE DO I DISPOSE OF MY HAZARDOUS WASTE?
To minimize environmental impact your hazardous waste should be deposited at an Environment Station for safe treatment.
You will find the Environment Stations at the Recycling Centres and at certain petrol stations. Addresses to the Environment Stations are listed to the right.
Please note that extra hazardous and bulky waste such as biocides, mercury, acids and bases, and photo chemicals can only be sorted at the Environment Stations at the Recycling Centres.
