We congratulate Godecke-Tobias Bleckens at Luleå University of Technology, who with his contribution “Biofiltrering av Dagvatten – Rain Gardens”, is the first winner of Peter Stahre’s newly founded scholarship.

Background

Peter Stahre was a great enthusiast and pioneer in the area of open stormwater treatment. Peter´s  ideas to use vegetation technologies for sustainable stormwater treatment has been widely spread due to his willingness to share and discuss new solutions.

The Peter Stahre scholarship will go to contributions that encourage collaboration and creative new ideas around Water and Wastewater technology in combination with vegetation technology.  The aim of the Peter Stahre scholarship is to inspire the development of a sustainable environment.

Scholarship award

The Scholarship award will take place at the annual meeting of Svenskt Vatten, the 17th  - 19th of May 2010.

Scholarship committee

The scholarship committee consists of representatives from VA SYD, SLU, Malmö Stad, LTH, NTU, PULS AB and VIÖS AB.

Who can apply for the scholarship?

The scholarship is primarily targeted at students, or other innovators, for a well performed project such as:
a master thesis, a research project, a practical project or similar.

The scholarship is open for applicants worldwide.

Amount of the award and number of scholarships

The amount of the scholarship award is 50 000 SEK.

If there is more than one contribution that fulfills the criteria and that are equally judged by the scholarship committee, the award may be split in maximum two parts.

Criteria for the contribution is that it has to:

Be documented in a written report

Be an innovation – a new idea, a topic of high current interest

Be of practical use – within planning, maintenance or management in the public environmental service and vegetation technique with concentration on stormwater and wastewater handling.

Easy accessible to the branch

Be of  high quality

Be relevant within Peter´s field of work, for exemple:

- Open stormwater handling

- Solutions for urban water infrastructure in combination with Vegetation Technique.
